Evolution of TPT PCB Light Guide Design: From Customer Feedback to Stable Industrial Use
Sichuan Topten Tech Group Co., Ltd. (TPT) has continuously improved its PCB Light Guide / PCB Light Pipe products for more than ten years. This evolution was not a one-time upgrade, but a long-term process shaped by customer feedback, field application requirements and manufacturing experience.
In early applications, customers mainly focused on basic light transmission and PCB-to-panel indication. As the products entered more demanding environments, including industrial control, communication equipment, power control cabinets and railway signaling systems, new requirements gradually became more important.
These requirements included stronger PCB fixing, better anti-loosening performance, improved material reliability and more stable batch delivery.
This product evolution is connected with TPT’s structural design development and patented technology accumulation. One of the related patents is:

Main Evolution Directions
Over the years, this PCB light guide series has evolved mainly in the following directions:
- Four-leg positioning structure improvement — to improve mounting stability and reduce loosening risk during assembly and long-term use.
- Mounting PIN size optimization — the PIN size evolved from 2.2 mm to 2.3 mm, with a 2.4 mm reinforced PIN option further evaluated for applications requiring stronger PCB fixing performance.
- Material upgrade direction from V2 to V0 — to better support industrial control, power equipment, communication systems and other high-reliability applications.
- Packaging improvement — to better protect the optical surface, PIN structure and fixing legs during transport, storage and batch delivery.
Why PIN Design Became Important
Among these changes, the mounting PIN design has been an important part of the product evolution. The adjustment from 2.2 mm to 2.3 mm, together with the evaluation of a 2.4 mm reinforced PIN option, was not simply about making the PIN larger.
The purpose was to find a better balance between insertion force, holding force and long-term anti-loosening performance in real PCB assembly conditions.
For PCB-to-panel indication applications, stable positioning is critical. The light guide must remain aligned with both the PCB LED source and the front-panel output window during assembly, transport and long-term operation.
Application Value for Industrial Equipment
Today, TPT’s PCB light guide products are used in applications where clear indication, stable assembly and reliable material performance are important.
Typical application areas include:
- Industrial control panels
- PLC and I/O modules
- Communication equipment
- Power control cabinets
- Railway signaling cabinets
- High-reliability electronic systems
Continuous Improvement for PCB Light Guide Solutions
TPT does not view PCB light guides as simple plastic parts. A reliable light guide must combine optical transmission, mechanical positioning, material reliability and mass-production consistency.
This product evolution reflects TPT’s development logic:
- Customer feedback drives product improvement.
- Structural details decide assembly reliability.
- Material selection supports application safety.
- Packaging quality protects final delivery.
Through patented structure design, engineering support and manufacturing experience, TPT will continue to provide reliable PCB Light Guide / PCB Light Pipe solutions for global industrial electronics customers.
